GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
This is special duty police work on an assigned shift involving maintaining a relationship between the Police Department and businesses in the community.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
Patrols designated areas of the city on foot; speak frequently with local business owners and patrons; convey concerns to the Police Department. Observes for and take appropriate action against City Ordinance violations, parking violations, and other “quality of life” issues. Performs related work as required.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Must be knowledgeable of the use, care and safe handling of firearms. Must be knowledgeable of the laws, codes, statutes and regulations of the State of Georgia and the City of College Park. Must be knowledgeable of the techniques, practice and procedures necessary for effective interaction with the general public. Must possess skills in the use and care of firearms. Must be able to understand and carry out oral and written instructions, write and speak effectively. Must be able to shoot a qualifying score with a departmental issued firearm on a department-approved course of fire. Must be able to walk approximately two (2) miles per day and remain on feet for indefinite periods of time.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High School diploma or equivalent (GED). Must obtain Active Georgia Peace Officer Standards and Training Council Law Enforcement Certification.
Hours: Monday –Friday six (6) hours per day, varies between 10:00 a.m. & 6:00 p.m.
