Description:
The Budget and Planning Unit is seeking an exceptionally talented, inquisitive, and self-motivated individual with strong analytical skills and a passion for continual learning for the Budget Analyst 2 position. In this role, you will coordinate programmatic budgeting, financial activities, personnel activities and special projects while identifying opportunities to drive efficiency within the assigned program area. This role demands accuracy, the ability to work independently on assignments while demonstrating sound judgment, and being a great team player. You will also work with teams on various projects with firm deadlines. Demonstrated ability to respond effectively and efficiently while remaining flexible, responsible and extremely adaptable is essential. Excellent oral and written communication skills are a must.

Under general to limited supervision, prepares, analyzes and manages annual budgets for the Georgia Department of Labor.
Prepares comprehensive and detailed reports relating to preparation and submission of budgets, budget revisions, budget performance, etc.
Monitors budgets and notifies appropriate senior Budget Division staff of significant variances;
Takes appropriate corrective action necessary to resolve budget variances.
Participates in the preparation of operating budgets and budget revisions.
Reviews/monitors grant expenditures.
Provides technical assistance to program managers including assistance with account coding.
Enters budget amendments and runs queries/reports utilizing PeopleSoft Financials.
Interfaces with state financial/budget entities to resolve issues.
Conducts comprehensive research and analysis.
Conducts training for program mangers as needed.
Works on special projects.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, accounting, finance or related field from an accredited college or university OR Associate’s degree in public administration, business administration, accounting, finance or related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of fiscal analysis experience OR Four years of fiscal analysis experience.

Preferred Qualifications – External:
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, business administration, accounting, finance or related field from an accredited college or university.
Two years of experience in financial analysis.
Two years of experience working with the budget process.
Two years of experience using PeopleSoft Financials.
Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Excel.

Career Coordinator

Description:
Under general supervision, coordinates and implements a program that provides career guidance, counseling and academic services to students in the Jobs for Georgia Graduates program.
Performs case management for student participants as needed.
Sustains follow up services for participants and employers throughout the follow up phase of the program.
Serves as a resource person to rehabilitation counselors, parents, local school system representatives and faculty concerning educational, vocational, social, and emotional well being of students.
Provides job development and placement assistance and academic counseling.
Provides career and technical guidance to students in vocational programs.
Promotes program within the schools and the community.
Establishes and complies with education plans for students for vocational and academic programs.
Ensures that special modifications are in place for students with disabilities.
Educates employers and candidates regarding availability of special schools, apprenticeships, on-the-job training, and educational benefits.
Counsel students on an individual and group basis.
Coordinates student selection, recruitment, enrollment, and scheduling.
Coordinates certification/accreditation of vocational programs.
Conducts needs assessments and program evaluations.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a related field from an accredited college or university. Note: Some positions may require certification.

Preferred Qualifications – External:
Three years of teaching experience in secondary education;
Experience providing guidance to “at-risk” students in an academic or similar environment;
Experience in the areas of program/classroom planning and fund raising coordination;
Knowledge of planning writing and implementing individual service plans for adolescents;
Possess an ability to develop local industry and business interest in program graduates;
Demonstrate an exceptional ability to anticipate problems and resolve them creatively
