The City of Atlanta’s Office of International Affairs, a division of the Mayor’s Office, was established to create and maintain working relationships with the consular and diplomatic corps, bi-national chambers of commerce, international trade offices, organizations, and businesses. Our mission is to develop and maintain relationships with Atlanta’s international community, foreign partners, and global constituents to grow the city’s visibility outside our borders, to increase trade and commerce, attract international events, international air routes, and ultimately create quality job opportunities for Atlantans and thriving communities.

The Deputy Director will oversee the office’s international trade and investment strategy, international partnerships, and support the Director of International Affairs. They will promote the City of Atlanta to foreign investors, assist Atlanta-based companies with their international strategies, conduct one-on-one consultations with foreign owned enterprises based within city limits, and participate in trade missions. In this position, the Deputy Director will work closely with other economic development agencies at the local, metro, state, national, and global level as well as various trade offices and bi-national chambers of commerce. Job Responsibilities

Organize export seminars with Atlanta-based companies and conduct trade & investment focused webinars.
Consult Atlanta-based companies on their international strategy, and provide resources for grant and financing opportunities.
Assist foreign owned companies with their landing strategy.
Collaborate with local, metro, state, and national partners on economic development strategies and events.
Establish strategic international partnerships and exchanges.
Attend international events and trade shows on behalf of the office and the Mayor.
Support international organizations, trade offices, and bi-national chambers with ongoing projects.
Assist the Director of International Affairs with day-to-day operations.
Development of international air routes in partnership with Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Desired Skills and Experience

Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in International Business, International Affairs, Business Administration, Economics, Global Trade, or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job.
Minimum of 5 years related work experience.
Experience working in a fast paced and high-energy office environment.
Strong cultural awareness and preferably fluent in a second language.
Excellent organization and time management skills.
Ability and willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
Strong public speaking skills.
