Summary
The City of Atlanta Department of Law seeks qualified applicants for an Assistant City Attorney position on its Watershed Management Team. The Assistant City Attorney in this position will handle all stages of litigation for the City of Atlanta’s Watershed Department including discovery, depositions and alternative dispute resolution.
Professional Qualifications
- The ideal candidate should have three (3) – five (5) years of litigation experience in general civil and/or employment litigation in state and federal courts, as well as substantial first and/or second chair trial experience.
- Experience in the area of employment law preferred.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
The Assistant City Attorney, who will report directly to the Deputy City Attorney for Watershed, will have extensive contact with the Atlanta City Council, Department of Watershed Management officials and the Atlanta community. Prior experience with water and/or wastewater treatment matters a plus.
- Applicants must possess strong written and oral communication skills, strong negotiation skills, exceptional judgment, professionalism and the interpersonal skills necessary to lead complex legal matters in a fast-paced environment.
Applicants must possess a Juris Doctorate degree and be a member in good standing of the State Bar of Georgia. Qualified candidates must pass a background check. All applicants must possess the highest professional ethics and integrity.
