Salary Range: $54,700 to $72,900 annually; commensurate with experience

Reporting to the General Accounting Director, the Senior Accounting Manager plans, organizes, oversees, coordinates, and reviews the work of staff performing difficult and complex professional, technical, activities related to the processing of financial transactions and preparing and reconciling financial and accounting records and reports; performs professional accounting work to ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards; participates in the development and implementation of various financial policies and procedures; oversees the overall setup and maintenance of the City’s general ledger, ensures proper internal controls, work practices, work quality, and accuracy; coordinates accounting activities with other areas and departments; provides responsive support and performs related duties as required.Accounting Manager Job Opening

 

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Accounting Manager will:

•Have knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles, fund and grant accounting, internal controls and GASB pronouncements and implementations.

•Have the experience and a working knowledge of the Oracle ERP system and the Hyperion system for establishing grids to produce the financial statements required to be reported in the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR).

•Have the knowledge and experience of working with the trial balance on both a modified accrual and full accrual basis.

•Have the knowledge and experience of preparing financial reports and completing financial analysis of various accounts and trial balances.

•Have the knowledge and experience of preparing financial reports and completing financial analysis of various accounts and trial balances

•Have knowledge of the state of Georgia’s escheatment process for accounts payable and payroll payments

•Responsible for reviewing all cash reconciliations, Investment reconciliations, and reconciliations for other balance sheet accounts

•Have knowledge and experience in recording investment income and realized gains and losses

•Provide oversight and give direction in preparing schedules for operating transfers, interfund payables and receivables

•Direct and review the analysis of management information; formulates recommendations based on findings; manages priorities, work processes, and procedures; ensures adherence and compatibility with organizational goals, objectives, and strategic initiatives.

•Manage and participate in the preparation, review, and submittal of a variety of reports, reconciliations, work papers, communications, schedules, tables, and/or statements to and from internal departments, financial institutions, governmental entities, and external agencies.

•Respond to requests for information and provides subject matter expert guidance to other departments, consumers, the general public, and/or outside agencies.

•Research and communicate the impact of potential legal or regulatory changes on department.

•Develop, implement, and apply policies and procedures.

•Analyze processes and make recommendations for improvement.

•Perform other duties as may be required.
