City of Atlanta Hosts Inaugural Human Trafficking Policy Round-table

ATLANTA – The City of Atlanta held its inaugural Human Trafficking Policy Roundtable with more than 50 community leaders in attendance. The inaugural summit provided participating organizations with a collaborative space to share professional experiences and thoughtfully engage in dialogue with other experts on new policy trends, adjustments being made to direct-services, the evolution of the healthcare delivery system, and opportunities for collaboration across the survivors’ services continuum.

“Collaboration is critical to the City’s commitment to ending human trafficking,” said Oulèye Warnock, Senior Human Trafficking Fellow for the City of Atlanta. “The complexities of this constantly evolving industry are beyond the capacity of a single sector to handle alone. I am grateful for the full support of Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms, who has taken on this global challenge.”

More than 15 organizations from the public and private sectors presented and exchanged key learnings with industry experts. Attendees examined current labor and sex trafficking practices and identified effective service delivery options. Factors such as signage in schools, hotels and convenience stores, parents’ roles in prevention and reporting, and ways to bridge the generational gap to better educate communities with varying awareness levels of human trafficking were discussed.
